Dad and Mom, Carrie and Jon, and my family had an outing Sabbath afternoon. We packed sandwiches, chips, cucumbers, cookies and pop. We first went directly to the lock and dam after we launched the boat. All the worst fears about the lock and dam were *not* realized as people quickly realized it wasn't a scary affair to go through. We then traveled up river to a very large sand dune island. We swam for awhile (the kids, Mom and I) while Carrie, Jon, Becky and Dad stayed and talked on the boat. Then we hiked up the steep sand dune and walked to the upriver side.

In this photograph, (front row - Danielle and Brent, 2nd row - Becky, Mary, Carrie, Natalie, 3rd Row - Carl, Frank and Jon) the east is to our backs.
